Summer fun reigns until duty calls this month.
Take the time to breathe and play before digging back into work and filling up your calendar with to-dos.
Midsummer marks a halfway point in an intense, turbulent, and still chaotic year. With the Sun in Leo for most of the month, it’s time for a much-needed break, levity, play and most of all a time for love to guide us as we make decisions for our future. After all, Leo’s the sign of self-expression and pure joy. Playing with abandon, reveling in just being, this is the heart of the Lion. Meanwhile, as big-picture planet Jupiter returns to Aquarius (Leo’s opposite sign) for a nightcap and a second full (or rare, Blue) moon this summer falls in the Water Bearer’s sign, there’s a backdrop of Aquarian themes, namely freedom, and the collective good. Nothing short of radical change is required. With speedy Mercury and mighty Mars beating the Sun to it in the sign of Virgo, we’ll all be busy working on changes. As we dig into the details and hammer out the how-tos, we summon the pragmatism that realizing dreams demands. There’s plenty of sweetness to be had en route. As graceful Venus and brainiac Mercury tip-toe into the sign of the scales by the end of the month, we’re reminded of the importance of balance and beauty and yes!, cooperation as we pursue our brilliant future.
If you know your rising sign, read that too; it’s often more relevant.
LEO (July 23–Aug. 22) Live large this month, Leo. As in, “I am Leo, hear me roar” large. With the sun in the only sign it actually rules (yours), you’re living out loud. Go ahead and shimmy into that gold lame halter dress, and dab on your favorite fire-engine-red lipstick. As you take a few fun and bold wardrobe risks, you also open your heart to positive change. In full glamour puss mode, go-for-it Mars heats up your finances, spurring you to make shrewd investments. Meanwhile, meeting-of-the-minds Mercury sets up a conference call with your favorite client, spinning wheels and deals that could eventually lead to a downright ferocious infusion to your income stream while simultaneously clearing a debt. Win-win. Just take care around the 8th when the new moon clicks into the crosshairs of disruptive Uranus and conservative Saturn. You may encounter a clash between traditional ideas you cling to concerning relationships and innovation you aspire to careerwise. What’s a fixed sign to do? When in doubt, the cosmos says, take a risk. Towards the end of the month, the Blue Moon beckons you to step into the shoes of your beloved, friends, or even wider community and take a look at how others experience you. No walk in the park for forward-facing Leos, but worth it in the long run. Bottom line, the more you step back and tune in to your audience, the more open you become to receiving support from those around you. The more permission you have to be yourself, the more abundance you’re likely to enjoy. The month ends on a graceful note, with pleasant social gatherings and maybe a sweet weekend getaway imbued with delightful conversations. How civilized.
VIRGO (Aug. 23–Sept. 22) Spend the first half of August behind the veil as you focus on releasing shadows from this past year, dear Virgin. Shadows concerning how you show up in the world, how you feel seen (or not), and how you wish to be perceived. Your intuition is at the helm. Trust it, even if you can’t make sense of what it all means quite yet. Give it time. A shift is in the works. Busy Mercury and gung-ho Mars support this process as they both gear up in your house of identity, asking you to dig into the details around how you communicate who you are. Consider what might need editing. You’re in the process of answering the call to take action around building the life you truly desire. What feels most aligned and inspiring? And also, how do you want to be of service? What new ventures are you managing in the wings? The rumination continues through the Blue Moon on the 22nd as you examine your rituals and revamp how you connect to spirit and magic in your day-to-day life. Hint: grace required. As you build a meaningful gratitude practice, notice how any neglected health needs get met, too. It’s a Virgo dream: living a holistic life. Toward the end of the month, it’s your turn to shine and show us all the work you’ve been doing behind the scenes.
LIBRA (Sept. 23–Oct. 22) As the sign symbolized by the scales, you feel measured by the company you keep. In August you’ll be in full Libran form, conversing with like-minded folks, and embracing fair-mindedness, balance, and justice. Notice how those communities that are out of alignment with you and your well-balanced scales just fade away. Notice how those that do line up, light up your soul. You may be called to step into a leadership role now. Don’t hesitate. Do it! You might gladly reconnect with old associates. Sweet. Meanwhile, your intuition amps up as speedy Mercury and activating Mars sweep through your house of the subconscious. It’s a productive time to have a chat with your soul and tap into your dreams. Ask, what words, actions, and ideas need to be released once and for all. Listen closely and give yourself the necessary space for ample rest, the better you’ll manage the tides of your emotions and be in the flow with your intuition. As the Blue Moon rolls in on the 22nd you’re reminded to keep a clear understanding of yourself amidst all your communities lest you get swallowed by the crowd. The antidote in case boundaries become muddled: tackling a creative project that allows you full expression. By the end of the month, you’re ready to open the doors to the salon; you play the gracious host to the beauty you and your cohorts have created.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23–Nov. 21) The sign most likely to burn it all down and rise, phoenix-style, from the ashes, some of you might be doing exactly that this month as your higher calling takes center stage. Be sure to give your personal life equal attention, too though. With the new moon on the 8th, possible tensions could arise between continuing along a more conventional path where home and family are concerned versus initiating a rapid, if not unexpected, shift in your most intimate relationship. Whatever works for you and your beloved! For the better part of the month, inspiration abounds and your keen focus hones in on the contributions you make to society, especially those that showcase your creative gifts and talents. By the bye, it’s an auspicious time to strike off on your own. If it involves deepening your connection to a just cause, all the better as Mercury and Mars stir it up in your house of humanitarian aims. Use your voice to amplify the radical change you most believe in, helping to shine a light on worldwide inequities. A creative burst mid-month may find you mulling over a collaborative project signaling that it’s time to gather a crew and get it rolling. Maybe it’s all about radical rest! Good timing. The Blue Moon on the 22nd tucks you into a sweet cozy cocoon, giving you space for deep self-care.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22–Dec. 21) Archers, you find a happy place this month as you share your creativity and ideas in a way that inspires the rest of us. Perhaps you’re having an exhibition of your paintings, publishing a book, or building an online course. Whatever it is, you’ll get a boost from Mercury and Mars as they both take a seat at the table in your career house, bringing you a surge of energy to communicate your ideas in a more public setting. There may be a bit of pressure on the 8th as the new moon activates a faceoff between inventive Uranus and conservative Saturn. What daily routine needs a radical restructuring? And, what outmoded concepts can you shake out, opening space for your imagination? With Mars and Mercury trucking through your career house, it’s likely that you’ll be using your voice in service of others. The trick is to keep that balance between speaking and listening, the latter not being your strong suit. You’ll have support from the Blue Moon on the 22nd though. It could be a good day to consciously practice the listening part of communication. Why not schedule yourself into a workshop on “whole body listening” while you’re at it? It’s not just for kids.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) With the Sun shining a light into the darkest corners of your soul, it could prove to be a deeply transformative month for our persevering goats. Time to peek into your psychological depths, connect with your tender places and let the process do its work. If the tension builds around the new moon on the 8th, why not shift into creative play and see what bubbles up? It could be just the ticket to releasing the pressure. Something is brewing in the intimacy and shared resources sector of your being. Meanwhile, Mercury and Mars activate your curiosity, encouraging you to think from a more philosophical perspective and maybe even teaching you about how other cultures live. We’re all ears when you share your expanded world vision. It’s also a good month to further your education or travel. The Blue Moon on the 22nd may nudge you to tie up loose ends around your personal finances and values. With abundant Jupiter in the mix, maybe it’s a salary bump.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20–Feb. 18) Whether you’re committed to a partner or not, you’ll be thinking about relationships this month. As the most unique and quirky sign of the zodiac, you’re never one to shy away from sharing your wackiest self with those closest to you. Yet, around the 8th, the new moon encourages you to consider how you might improve how you show up for others. Old habits die hard, especially when we think they define us. But they don’t. Especially if it’s a pattern that holds you back from being fully yourself. Go ahead and fly your freak flag. Your weirdness delights us! With curious Mercury and determined Mars traversing your house of mystery and transformation, it’s time to do a bit of shadow work. As you dig around in your psychological depths, you’ll discover parts of yourself that are ready to be exposed and shared with the rest of the world. Get that journal out and take notes from your subconscious. A little side benefit could be deeper intimacy between the sheets. Time’s a-wastin, wink wink. With the Blue Moon on the 22nd in your sign—again, it’s time to reflect on who you truly are, heart and soul. Your humanity, much needed, is a guiding light to the rest of us. The more energetically you align with your truth, the more abundance you’re likely to attract.
PISCES (Feb. 19–March 20) While the month’s focus for our receptive Fishes is all about routines and rituals, do calendar in some fun on the regular. Particularly if you’re overworked, it’s high time you mix it up with a daily creative activity or two that makes you feel like a carefree kid again. Fishes who are all work and no play can get depressed and sink into victimhood. A difficult place to buoy back up from. So go ahead and reevaluate just how you’re spending your days. Toss the habits that hold you down. Meanwhile, Mercury and Mars are opening doors in your closest relationships and may well spark meaningful conversations. With a higher potential for fiery words, be cautious around flare ups though. Approach your discussions with loved ones with compassion and sensitivity (your strong suit.) The Blue Moon on the 22nd leads you to a freedive into your subconscious where you flow along with your intuition, a state that comes naturally to you. Consider working with divination tools like the Tarot, experiment with spirit-guided journeying, or simply take time for a soothing bubble bath or moonlit ocean dip. The more you connect with your intuition, the more freedom and abundance you’re likely to create.
ARIES (March 21–April 19) At long last, it’s playtime for warriors. That includes everything from carousing with the kids to making cool stuff. The key is to have fun. With the Sun shining in your house of creative self-expression, you’re fired up, confident, and owning exactly who you are. Inspiration comes through doing things that make you feel like a kid again. Meanwhile, Mercury and Mars keep you busy, focused on your daily rituals and chores. You may feel a strong urge to declutter your schedule so you can give your undivided attention to what truly matters most to you. The new moon on the 8th could build some tension between feeling restricted by a friend group and unpredictability around your personal finances. We still say, go where the fun is, but maybe keep an eye on the bank account so that you don’t overspend. The Blue Moon on the 22nd suggests that as you express yourself creatively, it’s a good idea to keep in mind that you share your gifts and talents for the good of others. Get it out there! Perhaps as you sell a painting or drawing you can donate a percentage of the proceeds to a local firefighters relief fund. Or you could volunteer your time and skills at your neighborhood food bank. Whatever you feel called to do, do it. The more you share your creativity in order to uplift others, the greater the return on investment you’re likely to see.
TAURUS (April 20–May 20) Put your hooves up, gather the herd and nourish yourself in the self-care of creative play with your beloved family. Mix up homemade face masks after a day of frolicking in mountain meadows or whatever it takes to feel like an “ollie ollie in come free” kiddo again. Restoration is the name of the game this month. Meanwhile, think tank Mercury and just do-it Mars support all the play and fun as they cavort in your house of creative self-expression. Go ahead and share what makes you most happy. Your joy and laughter is contagious, and this is the one infection we want to catch! While you might feel some pressure around the new moon on the 8th to roll up your sleeves and plod through well-worn career conventions, we advise you to pivot from such thoughts. Instead, embrace the idiosyncratic. With experimental Uranus in your sign for the next few years, it’s time to get comfy with your inner weirdo. What brings you the most joy? When do you feel most free to be you? As you discard anything that’s weighing you down, you feel the levity of your younger self resurface, helping you to course correct. The Blue Moon on the 22nd has you balancing all the personal time with pragmatic, yet potentially radical changes on the career front. Perhaps your higher calling is not to work within the boundaries of the system but rather to bust out of them! You are stronger than you realize, dear Bulls. This full moon could call you to leave a job you abhor or to take steps to start your own business. Or maybe you’re finding a way to support the non-profits and causes you truly care about through the work you do. The more your career can uplift the community, the greater the reward you’ll find this month.
GEMINI (May 21–June 20) The sign of the wordsmith, you’ll be positively luminous expressing ideas and getting the word out as the Sun shines in your communications house for the better part of August. Ever the gatherer of fun facts, you’ll be weaving masterful phrases at least until the 11th when your ruling planet, gabby Mercury, makes the switch from Leo to Virgo. Capitalize now on turning thoughts into literary gold, Twins! And keep it heart-centered as opposed to all-about-me. Once in Virgo, things may turn sentimental as your ruling planet Mercury and direct Mars light up your house of hearth and home where you feel most comfortable expressing your needs and feelings. It’s also a good time to tidy up, rest and unplug, reflecting on the busy bee you’ve been all summer. With your home in order, you can think more clearly and your productivity flows like a smooth easy river. There could be an undercurrent of anxiety gnawing in your subconscious however that amps up around the new moon on the 8th. It’s likely to do with the teeter-totter of chilling in the hood versus the desire to rove farther afield. It kinda feels like you want to do both and neither. Not to worry, everything passes and before you know it you’re generously sharing your wisdom from all the learning you’ve absorbed in the last few months as well as years. You’re tapping into your super power: sharing information. The more you use your voice this month, the more abundance you’re likely to receive, including the financial support needed to keep the presses rolling.
CANCER (June 21–July 22) Ordinarily self-effacing, you’ll be feeling more confident this month to boldly ask for what you’re worth as the Sun lights up your house of personal finances. You’re consciously making decisions to clean up any gray areas and your self-esteem gets a nice boost. Way to go, dear crab! Meanwhile, speedy Mercury and adamant Mars are at work in your house of communications helping refine your message to express what you want. Stress may arise around the 8th at the new moon as restrictive Saturn stubbornly clinches onto a somewhat antiquated idea around shared resources while wild-card Uranus ushers in yet to be tested ambitions. It’s all good stuff thrown into the transformational fire. Just keep an even keel as you examine the parts and pieces. As the Blue Moon lights up your house of transformation on the 22nd, take the time to plunge into your psyche. There are treasures there waiting to be unearthed. While this place can feel turbulent, it’s darkest before the dawn. As you flow with the feels, allow anything in your life that is not serving you to wash away. As you do, watch the riches roll in.
